"Every night, just when the dark was softest and sleep was deepest, there came a loud noise from the end of the great room. It came from the place where the loom and spindle stood, where by day the grandmother spun and the mother wove."

Kittens

Two new additions to the family. A little girl called Chloe Fox and a little boy called Clawed Monet. They have been with me and for about six and a half weeks now and are as cute as can be.

It's been a long time

...since I last posted:

I bought a Golding Spindle and taught myself spindle spinning. I have to admit it's appallingly addictive. It's slower than using the wheel but I feel I have so much control over what I'm doing and I can spin so incredibly fine. She spins silk amazingly well....am yet to try her with cashmere, angora and mohair.

My little ring spindle is 24grams with a high Cherry Whorl and a Walnut Shaft. The ring is sterling silver and she's decorated with Amethysts, sterling silver and Marcasites. She's a hand crafted one-of-a-kind.

She glitters beautifully as she spins!

Also I lost my little white cat a couple of weeks ago. She became ill quite quickly and after a number of vet visits; no response to antibiotics; and, blood tests it was discovered that her red blood cells were being destroyed. The outcome was unlikely to be good so I had to make the decision to let her go. I was with her when she was put to sleep......my poor little Emma girl was so miserable I just couldn't put her through anymore stuff. I expect I'll be shedding tears for sometime to come. The boy cat and I miss her so very much.

Love you my little Emma Jennyanydots!

The Simple Life Part 2

So.....I've thought; and I think the place to start is my wardrobe! I shall review my clothes and anything that hasn't been worn in ages shall be either: re-purposed; remade; mended; donated; or, chopped up for quilts etc.

All hand knitted jumpers that have been lying around idly shall be: unravelled and re-knitted into new garments; unravelled and woven into something else; or, donated.

Well it's a start I suppose and I have to start somewhere....Oh....WIP finishing is in progress....now I just need some more hours in every day.

ETA: I just noticed it's Friday the 13th.....Yay.....a LUCKY DAY!!!!!

The Simple Life

Spindle is determined to simplify her life. Starting with.....I have no idea. But the ideas will come to me; eventually.....I hope!

In the meantime I'm determined to finish some wips (works in progress); the first of which is a white cotton crocheted bedspread.

I am soooo close to finishing and it has cost me a small fortune in materials, it's time it was finished and on the bed.
